Belle Corn Introduces Six New Genuity™ VT Triple PRO™ Hybrids

Starting next season, farmers across the Mid-South can look forward to benefitting from six new Belle Corn hybrids that represent a major breakthrough for the region's corn producers.

We'll be carrying Monsanto's new Genuity™ VT Triple PRO™ corn technology, which in test plots throughout the South provided a strong defense against above-ground insects that feed on ears and can significantly reduce yield potential and damage grain quality.

"This new trait brings better insect protection—virtually eliminating earworm, armyworm and root worm, plus corn borer—reduced refuge requirements and better grain quality," says Belle Corn agronomist Jeff Pangle. "We predict higher yields—up to 20 more bushels per acre."

"The key to this new technology is pairing it with genetics best adapted to the South," Pangle adds. "It's ready to go, and it's an exciting time to farm corn."

Historically, it has not been cost-effective for farmers to scout for earworm and pay for an insecticide treatment in field corn. Belle Corn's Genuity™ VT Triple PRO™ remedies that. In addition to above- and below-ground insect control, it also provides the Roundup Ready® 2 herbicide tolerance trait.

The severity of aflatoxin should also be lessened with the increased pest protection in Belle Corn's Genuity™ VT Triple PRO™ fields.

"Controlling those pests alone will not eliminate the risk of aflatoxin," Pangle notes. "But, if we combine sound practices with the use of these traits in hybrids that have been specifically adapted to this region, that will go a long way in reducing out mycotoxin risk."
